Windows 10 Pro — Genuine Digital Licence Key
Windows 10 Pro is the most widely deployed desktop operating system in European businesses. Since its launch in July 2015, it has become the benchmark for productivity, security and software compatibility. At Yeslicense you can buy a 100% genuine Windows 10 Pro product key at a very competitive price, delivered instantly by email after payment, that activates directly with Microsoft's servers.
This is a perpetual licence: one payment, no subscription, nothing to renew. It works with both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and can be used to activate Windows 10 Pro on a new PC, or to upgrade a Home edition or an expired installation.
Windows 10 Pro vs Windows 10 Home: what are the differences?
The Pro edition of Windows 10 stands apart from the Home edition with a set of advanced features designed specifically for workplaces, corporate networks and demanding users. These features are not available in Windows 10 Home and fully justify choosing the Pro edition.
BitLocker — Full-disk encryption
BitLocker is the disk-encryption technology developed by Microsoft and built exclusively into the Pro and Enterprise editions of Windows 10. It encrypts the entire contents of your hard drive or SSD using AES-128 or AES-256, making all data unreadable without the decryption key. In practice, if your laptop is lost or stolen, the data it holds is completely inaccessible to anyone who removes the drive and connects it to another machine. This feature has become essential under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which requires businesses processing personal data to put adequate protection measures in place.
Remote Desktop (Remote Desktop Protocol)
Remote Desktop, based on the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), lets you access your PC from any other internet-connected device. Whether you are travelling with a laptop, at home on a tablet, or need to reach your workstation from another office, Remote Desktop gives you full access to all your applications and files in real time. It is fundamental for remote working and for IT support teams that need to troubleshoot machines remotely without travelling. It is not available in Windows 10 Home.
Domain join and Active Directory
In business environments, centralised management of the IT fleet relies on Active Directory (AD), Microsoft's directory service. Windows 10 Pro can join an Active Directory domain, allowing IT administrators to apply Group Policy (GPO) across every workstation: access restrictions, software configuration, security settings, automatic application deployment, network drive mapping and folder redirection to a file server. This capability is missing from Windows 10 Home and is one of the main reasons why businesses of every size deploy the Pro edition on their workstations.
Hyper-V — Native virtualisation
Hyper-V is Microsoft's hypervisor built into Windows 10 Pro. It lets you create and run virtual machines directly on your PC without installing third-party software such as VMware Workstation or VirtualBox. Hyper-V is particularly useful for developers who need isolated test environments, for system administrators testing network or server configurations, and for IT security teams analysing malware in a sandbox. Hyper-V outperforms type 2 hypervisors such as VirtualBox because it runs directly on the hardware rather than through the host system.
Windows Update for Business
Windows 10 Pro gives you advanced control over update management through Windows Update for Business. Unlike Windows 10 Home, which installs updates automatically and immediately, the Pro edition lets you defer feature updates for up to 365 days and quality updates for up to 30 days. This flexibility is essential for businesses that need to test update compatibility with their line-of-business applications before rolling them out to production.
AppLocker — Application control
AppLocker lets IT administrators define precise rules about which applications can run on workstations. You can block unauthorised software, restrict access to certain applications by user group and create allow-lists of approved applications. AppLocker is a powerful tool for reducing the attack surface in a business, limiting the risk of malware or software that breaches the organisation's security policy being installed.
VPN and advanced business connectivity
Windows 10 Pro includes a native VPN client compatible with the main tunnelling protocols (IKEv2, L2TP/IPsec, SSTP, PPTP). It lets you connect securely to private corporate networks from anywhere. Windows 10 Pro also supports DirectAccess, which automatically establishes a seamless connection to the corporate network as soon as the device is online, with no manual action from the user.
Features shared by Windows 10 Pro and Home
Beyond the features exclusive to the Pro edition, Windows 10 as a whole provides a rich common foundation shared by both editions:
Redesigned Start menu: Windows 10 brought back the Start menu removed in Windows 8, enhanced with Live Tiles that display real-time information (weather, news, email). This blend of the classic Windows 7 Start menu and Windows 8 tiles offers an interface that is both familiar and modern.
Microsoft Edge: Windows 10's built-in web browser was completely rebuilt on the Chromium engine in 2020, giving it excellent performance, full compatibility with Chrome extensions and original features such as Immersive Reader, Read Aloud, Collections and Microsoft Copilot (formerly Bing Chat) integration.
Cortana and Windows Search: the built-in voice assistant and search engine help you quickly find files, apps, settings and web information. Windows Search looks through local files, OneDrive and Outlook email at the same time, in real time.
Virtual desktops: Task View lets you create several independent virtual desktops, each with its own open windows. One desktop can be for work, another for leisure and a third for communication. This organisation significantly improves productivity for multitaskers.
Microsoft Defender Antivirus: Microsoft's built-in antivirus, included in Windows 10 at no extra cost, provides real-time protection against viruses, ransomware, spyware and malicious websites. Regularly updated, it ranks among the best antivirus solutions in independent tests by AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives.
Windows Hello: Windows 10's biometric sign-in system lets you unlock your PC using infrared facial recognition, a fingerprint reader or a PIN. These methods are both faster and more secure than traditional passwords, because they do not travel over the internet and cannot be intercepted through phishing.
Xbox Game Bar and gaming: Windows 10 includes an overlay game bar (Win + G) for capturing screenshots and gameplay videos, monitoring system performance (CPU, GPU, RAM, FPS) and chatting with Xbox friends without leaving your game. DirectX 12 is also supported natively for maximum graphics performance.
Windows 10 system requirements
Windows 10 is known for its modest hardware requirements, which allow it to run on much older machines than Windows 11. These are Microsoft's minimum specifications:
- Processor: 1 GHz or faster. Compatible with 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) processors. There is no minimum core count, unlike Windows 11, which requires at least 2.
- Memory (RAM): 1 GB for 32-bit, 2 GB for 64-bit. In practice, 4 GB is recommended for comfortable use and 8 GB for heavy multitasking.
- Storage: 16 GB for 32-bit, 20 GB for 64-bit. An SSD is strongly recommended for fast boot times.
- Graphics card: DirectX 9 compatible with a WDDM 1.0 driver. Virtually every graphics card produced since 2008 meets this requirement.
- Display: minimum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. Windows 10 adapts to every screen size, from small netbooks to 4K ultra-wide monitors.
- Internet connection: recommended for security updates, but not required for installation and activation itself if you have a product key.
These very accessible requirements make Windows 10 Pro the ideal choice for mixed IT fleets where recent machines sit alongside older devices that are not compatible with Windows 11. If your PC has an Intel 8th generation processor or later, an AMD Ryzen 2000 or later, and a TPM 2.0 module, we recommend considering an upgrade to Windows 11 to benefit from the latest security improvements and the modernised interface.
How to activate your Windows 10 Pro licence key
Activating Windows 10 Pro with a digital key bought from Yeslicense is quick and easy. Here are the two most common scenarios:
Activating an existing installation (upgrade or key replacement):
- Open Windows Settings with the keyboard shortcut Win + I.
- Go to Update & Security, then click Activation.
- Click Change product key.
- Enter the 25-character key you received by email after your Yeslicense order.
- Click Next. Windows checks the key with Microsoft's servers and activates the Pro edition in a few seconds.
Clean installation and activation on a new PC:
- Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website.
- Create a bootable USB drive of at least 8 GB or burn an installation DVD.
- Boot from this media via your PC's boot menu (usually F12, F11, F2 or Del depending on the manufacturer).
- Follow the setup wizard. When it asks for the product key, enter your 25-character key.
- Select Windows 10 Pro as the edition to install.
- Windows activates automatically once it is connected to the internet after installation.
If you have no internet access during installation, you can use Microsoft's phone activation option, which gives you an activation code when you call Microsoft's activation service and provide the installation ID shown on screen.
Windows 10 support and end of life
It is important to understand Microsoft's support policy before investing in a Windows 10 licence. Microsoft's mainstream support for Windows 10 ended on 14 October 2025. Since that date, Windows 10 no longer receives free routine security updates or new features; devices only stay protected through Microsoft's Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme. For consumers, ESU coverage has been extended to 12 October 2027. Without ESU, a Windows 10 PC becomes progressively more exposed to newly discovered vulnerabilities.
That said, Windows 10 Pro remains a perfectly legitimate and functional choice in the following situations:
- PCs that do not meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11 (in particular, no TPM 2.0 or an unsupported processor).
- Business environments that need extra time to plan and carry out their migration to Windows 11.
- Critical line-of-business applications whose compatibility with Windows 11 has not yet been validated.
- PCs used in offline or partly connected environments where security updates are less critical.
For organisations, Microsoft also offers a paid commercial ESU programme for Windows 10, providing additional security fixes for up to three years after October 2025. If your fleet is affected, we recommend checking the current terms of this programme directly with Microsoft.
For a long-term solution, we recommend considering a move to Windows 11 Pro, also available from Yeslicense. If your PC is compatible, upgrading from Windows 10 Pro is free.
